Jules Verne ATV online tracker gadget

 <dc:description>

We’ve come across a cool ATV online tracker gadget which we really want to share with you. Click through for Isana Kashiwai's GoogleSatTrack which uses Google Maps.

Not only is it exciting to get a visualisation of where Jules Verne is flying right now, but you also get an idea of how fast it's whizzing round the planet up there. And, what's different about this tracker… on the same screen you can see the International Space Station chasing behind ATV.

The application was built by Isana Kashiwai from Tokyo, in Japan. A science book editor and web editor/designer by day, Isana made this tracker purely as a hobby. In an email Isana explained to us that the ATV data used in the application is taken from Celes Track (http://celestrak.com/) which officially redistributes space-track's TLD data.

For a slightly simplified view of where Jules Verne ATV is right now, there's also ESA's own satellite tracker which Daniel recently updated with the ATV data.
