Mars image in false colour created from two originals captured 10 October 2008. The originals were processed by Bogdan Stancescu, Bucharest, Romania. Bogdan writes: "Here's my effort at processing some VMC output. It's the result of a faux HDR combination of two VMC images from October 2008: 08-283_04.27.15_VMC_Img_No_3.png & 08-283_04.28.08_VMC_Img_No_4.png. I demosaiced the images using a custom brew of dcraw and then did post-processing in Adobe Photoshop. The image was rotated to leave some blank space to the left where people generally tend to cluster their desktop icons. In the background I added a roughly accurate star field generated using Celestia (using the Tharsis Montes for visual orientation)."
