...seldom slips the surly bonds of Earth.
Not *Bye Bye* but rather Welcome Back, Jules. Thanks for the recent flyby photo opps.

Thanks, if you meant it for my photos and Findlay's viewing. Did either of you photograph Jules Verne? Did you see it, Ana? I haven't sorted out my numerous recent photos but will be glad to share the few I have of Jules flybys, or any others.

I saw the ATV Jules Verne fly over my home a few days ago. I was so glad to see with my own eyes before it plunged through the atmosphere. No doubt it was a wonderful addition to the ISS Program and now has a well deserved place in history.
Cheers Jules

I think I've seen Jules as well, on thursday evening. I'm living in france in Normandy
It was a sort of big ball of fire with a long "queue" behing it. Was it the same for you?

Here in western Australia, it was constant white dot traversing the sky, similar to the ISS but just that bit dimmer
I was able to see it with the assistance of www.heavans-above.com. A great site.

As I replied to Ana, who seems to have congratulated you and me for seeing Jules:
Did you see the last orbit, or re-entry? It would have been mighty far east of even eastern Australia.

Now THAT's a funny photo!

lemercier, the ATV burned up over the Pacific so you probably did not see its re-entry in Normandy.
I took a few 16-second digital photos of it last week, in CT, just missing most of the best photo opp , shortly after the ATV detached from the Station. As I was racing to set up my camera and tripod they went overhead in clear skies, the ATV about one or two full moon diameters ahead of the ISS. Yes, Findlay; HeavensAbove.com is great!

I saw the ATV Jules Verne overhead as bright as a first-magnitude star
last week. Very impressive!
I am looking forward to another ATV's pass as well in future.

Yesterday, I was there in ATV-CC main control room and I clicked to send the last telecommand to destroy Jules Verne.
So sorry for all this waste....

Trinity,
That must have been an odd duty to perform. So much advanced technology, that worked so well, and it turns to dust with a click...but there are thousands of pieces of junk up there, so part of ATV's job was to secure the Station from a collision. Could you please leave the Early Ammonia Servicer up there a while longer so I can get a few photos?
Hey, it's snowing on Mars. Ain't technology great?
