Image Sets , Public Submissions  10 December, 2009 10:20

Doug Ellison, in Leicester, UK, is one of the founding tech folks at Unmannedspaceflight.com he has sent in several very cool movies that he created using VMC image sets. The top movie was generated from images acquired on 17 Oct 2008, and the bottom, from images taken on 20 Oct 2008.

Doug writes that to create the movie files, he took the raw data sets and processed them using the VMC2RGB utility (by Gordan Ugarkovic, download here). Then, in Photoshop, he applied a 'significant' saturation increase and adjustment of colour balance, followed by a slight sharpening, aligning consecutive frames and then exporting to .mov file.

Doug and several others are discussing and sharing more of their Mars Webcam image processing work in the VMC thread over at the Unmannedspaceflight.com forum. Thanks, Doug! -- Daniel
