We've just posted an update on the ATV website about today's demonstration. Soon after the demo ended, members of ATV team here at Toulouse started their meeting to discuss how Jules Verne performed. We managed to get their reaction to today's events.
Jules Verne performs Escape manoeuvre
The Escape command was sent from ATV Control Centre at 18:30 CET. Jules Verne could be seen moving away from the ISS. The team is now analysing the data collected. More later...

A couple of exciting moments in the ATV Control Centre just a few moments ago. First a report from the crew onboard the International Space Station that they could actually see Jules Verne! And then, we could all see it for ourselves and as more than a white speck too! Click through to see the photo taken of the screen inside ATV-CC...
Great video - ATV Demonstration Day activities
There was a great video posted yesterday in the ESA Web portal explaining the activities and step-by-step events for each of the ATV Demonstration Days - including today's Demo Day 1. Access via link below. -- Daniel
A short note on ATV-ISS distances
As you search around the Web for news on ATV, you'll find various descriptions - and differing values - for the "S" station-keeping points near the ISS. The S-numbers correspond to specific locations in space through which the ATV will pass or at which ATV will perform some action (details under 'Full story'). -- Daniel
Today's sequence of events - details
The aim of today's activities is to confirm that ATV can perform navigation with respect to the International Space Station - using relative GPS - to successfully and safely manoeuvre Jules Verne to a specific station point, S2, located 3500 m behind the ISS and at the same orbital altitude (more details after the jump). -- Daniel

Jules Verne ATV online tracker gadget
We’ve come across a cool ATV online tracker gadget which we really want to share with you. Click through for Isana Kashiwai's GoogleSatTrack which uses Google Maps.
Not only is it exciting to get a visualisation of where Jules Verne is flying right now, but you also get an idea of how fast it's whizzing round the planet up there. And, what's different about this tracker… on the same screen you can see the International Space Station chasing behind ATV.

ATV nestles into 'parking' orbit to wait for docking
Today's news from ATV-CC is good: Just after 13:00 CET today, Jules Verne nestled into a 'parking orbit', located some 2000 km ahead of the ISS and at approximately the same altitude, to await the first of a series of docking manoeuvres starting at the end of March. We spoke with ESA's Bob Chesson, the head of human spaceflight operations, by telephone shortly afterwards; he said: "This is where we need to be, and where we will stay until 27 March; everything's nominal." (More details after the jump...) -- Daniel
